Adam- At 5'5" 140 lb, I decided on a C16. That was before CLC came out with the LT series. If I had had a choice I would have built a C16LT. The C16 was my first boat and took me 5 months to build (February to mid June). I'm not particularly handy with tools, but it wasn't difficult to build from a kit and it looks great. Same could probably be said for other kits. Handling characteristics of the C17 and C17LT should be very similar. The lower rear deck of the LT will make it easier to roll. My Chesapeake handles waves and wind better than my present boat (Current Design Extreme).
