: Interesting Jim that you bring this up now. I'm building a Georgian Bay using
: the high deck version. I don't have your height but I do have size 12 feet
: and with shoes on they are longer than the space in my hull. I naturally
: stand with my feet splayed out so that is a comfortable position in the
: boat for me. In Nick Schades book he shows a foot brace that is one piece
: that is Vee shaped and it mounts in the middle. It would never work for my
: splayed out feet. My point here is that sit on the floor like you will in
: the kayak and see how your feet naturally fall as in "in or out"
: and then see how it will be in your finished boat. You will want to
: consider all of this very carefully when deciding on foot peg layout and
: mounting.

: Happy building,

Thanks, have tried to visualize this already before putting up a posting.
(and actually before picking a design) Feet splay out, figure to use Yakima track type footbraces or homebuilt equivalent. I have tried to take approx measurements and seems will fit with feet pointed out and forward, hence the decision to build. I assume that knees have to follow (ie the knee bone's connected to the shin bone...) and can be braced where ever they they comfortably hit under the deck with the same control. Reading some postings about leaning by raising a knee and dropping a hip has perplexed me somewhat since in the kayaks I tried on (production models) there was no raising of the knees and dropping of the hips room, most boats fit like a cast with pegs at max distance. Seemed ok, though, could with a sack race in one of these.
