I had a bunch of drain holes. It didn't help. I would say you will be OK, but I normally don't glue until the wood is cool and dry. On the flame boat I did some gluing as I went with hot steamed wood. It all worked out fine, but I'm currently working on a paddle with waterproof glue so I want the wood dry.
