The book is fine. You may want to shorten the forms, however. GP uses forms that go all the way to the floor. I think rehd had some measurements for the shortened ones if you don't want to do the figuring yourself.

The beam depends on how deep you make the boat (if you don't modify the forms). Couldn't tell you what mine is ... it's been awhile. Roger Nuffer had all the specs on the most recent Wallys. Search through the archives and you should find them in one of his posts. This boat is really flexible in design and easily changed if you don't like what you are seeing.

Mike's the king of Walrus hill here (Hmmm. sounds like a Beatles tune). His latest covering was synthetic and it definetely seemed to help lighten the boat. Mine was canvas + paint and was way heavy. Roger's was also painted canvas and he got a much more acceptable weight. We're still waiting on Rehd :-) ... too busy house cleaning .
