Hi Kent;

CPVC (chloro-polyvinyl chloride) is the stuff designed for hot water use, and may withstand your steaming use. I've been using that on my flutes . . . :)

I started steaming but switched to an industrial hot air gun. Makes the cedar strips very soft & pliable, and when they cool (minutes) you get to gluing. I even set up a simple jig to assist, but neglected to take any pics. You might try a combination, for quick-drying them . . .
