I've posted before asking for help on staining before glassing....if i recall correctly, i got advice to use a water based stain..which i've not yet found in the stores around here....
so my first question is where i can get a water based stain?
i did try a couple of test panels with alkyd based stains....one was cabot...and beware! it severly reduces the adhesion of the epoxy.....
one other stain, a ben moore product with "stoddards solvent" seemed to work fine..the glass looks like it adheres just like a bare wood panel (i'm using honduran mahogany)....i'm going to try some more tests....does anyone have an idea what Stoddards solvent is? and any idea if i should be wary of using it before epoxy?
thanks, bruce
