I find it easiest to just set the saw at the thickness you want the strips and feed the board into it instead of trying to adjust the saw every time.

Use a zero-tolerance insert for your tablesaw so there is no gap around the blade, and fix a featherboard right above the blade to hold the plank down and make it harder to get your fingers near the blade.

Some people will place a featherboard beside the plank to push it against the fence and then move the featherboard for each cut, but with care you may be able to do without this.

You may want to make a fence extension so you have a good long fence to help keep the plank feeding straight.
