Matthew, Great job on the 'yak as well as the roof racks. One comment on the racks: I would not, repeat NOT trust bungie cord to hold that beautiful machine to the top of my car. The hooks have a way of straightening out, and when a gust of wind picks up the bow and then sets it back down in the cradle, sprongo. I witnessed a similar event involving snowboards, which fluttered gracefully through the air before crashing to the pavement. Invest (or make) some webbing straps with sturdy buckles. I use fastex buckles on the strap for my surfboards, but would trust only the aluminum cam type for a kayak. Your favorite climbing or outdoor store will have the supplies.
