A scam I got from the parks department. You decide on the last night you want, back up ten days and reserve the site for 10 days. A couple of weeks before your arrival date you cancel the unwanted days and get to keep the weekened days you really wanted. You get a jump a 7-8 day jump on those trying for the same days you really wanted. There is NO cancelation fee (A known loophole)
This was related to me by a nice parks dept worked who saw how frustrated I was always missing out on the sites I really wanted. I thought I was the first in line every time, only to find out half the park was booked 7-8 days in advance.
