Commercial or home-made, both are interesting. I ask because I don't know of any other way to learn about this. Jack just gave two reasons which seem can be cases in point: No glue in seam on commercial, and too slim blank to begin with for home-made greenlander.

You gave another two. The one about paddle float rescues is something worth looking into: how does one break a paddle in one, and how to perform a P-F-R with minimal stress on the paddle. But this is a subject that can be, and has been, subject to long debate. Maybe not here and now.

I guess I don't believe in "learning by doing", when it comes to paddling accidents...
