: Unfortunately, I toasted the shop vac:( Every once in a while I was checking
: the drum to see how must dust I was collecting, but I wasn’t watching the
: filter. Because the dust is so light, most of it went right to the filter.
: Didn’t notice until I smelled the smoke. I’m surprised the vac doesn’t
: have a thermal switch. I melted down the plastic ball and impeller.

Hey it was going to happen soon anyway. I don't know how many "Shop Vac"s I went through before I realized a good vac made to last would be cheaper in the long run.
So don't buy another cheap "Shop Vac" now's the time and excuse to get one that will work better, be quieter, and have a few nice extra features like a tool activated switch.
We had this discussion a few weeks ago. I think the "Fein" 9-55-13 Turbo II is the best deal. Very quiet, two stage motor, tool switch for $249.00 with free shipping at "Tools On sale 800-328-0457
