Here's a picture of the straightener I'm using now. Same as in my earlier sketches only this one is 8' long and I'm not using any supports on it. If you were to run some long boards through it, say 12' or more, you might want to C-clamp it to the table both front and rear. Sorry the pics are so bad, but it's getting late and the light was a bit low. Will take more with the new camera but that will be a while to get them back and up here. Hope these help you visualize what it's about.

Remember though that this takes off 1/8" ( or the thickness of the blade of your choice when made ) of material at a time, unlike a jointer. It's designed to take off the rounded/rough edges of S2S lumber or something that's got a bow in it. If you are just jointing a piece of material for a project, it will take off too much material for that.

This photo makes it look short on the outfeed side, but they are equal in length. I used white formica on the top to make the material move easier over the surface.
