Forget plunge router, it is heavier and place the center of gravity too high for easy handling. Fixed base router can do 90% of all routing job you'll encounter. The other 10% ?-- if you have money to burn and space to store and let the plunge router gather dust.
: Does the book cover lofting? I found ted moores canoecraft at Borders (a
: local bookstore chain) bought it and even though I thought someone had
: said he covered this. It's not in it. I've had many setbacks on starting a
: yak,but hopefully will start soon. Why can't I find his book in a store,do
: I have to order from the net.
: P.S. I'm purchasing a router this weekend, any suggestions.I was looking at
: the Porter Cable kit with the fixed and plunge base so I could leave the
: fixed attached to a router table and use the plunge base for free hand.
: but I think I would prefer one with More power and variable speeds in this
: size the Makita 3hp looks pretty good. what do ya'll use and suggest.
