to fix it. If you run ratchet straps around the hull at all the forms where the strips have pulled away, then saturate the strips in those areas with water, the glue will re-emulsify and the strips will be pulled back into proper alignment. (That is assuming that you used yellow glue or one of the other water-soluble adhesives. All bets are off if you used CA, polyurethane or epoxy.) Give it overnight to dry out, and continue where you left. Strap it up again at the end of each session, and you will have no worries again on this score. Odds are that the boat will do better if it looks like the designer intended it to.
: I have been doing 3 to 4 strips a night. I only have a 1.5 to 2 hour window
: to work on the boat. I am building a Night Heron. The chine on the front
: half of the boat is striping fine with 1/2 in strips. Don't kill me for
: using staples! I will try stapleless next time! Right now I just want to
: get a boat on the water.
: The back half of the boat has a very hard chine. Next time I build this boat
: I think 1/4 in strips will work better. O.K now here is my new problem I
: have. The
: last 5 forms (excluding the very last one) the strips have been pulling away
: from the forms. the worse one is 1/4 in above the form. I think I will
: continue and try to keep it smoth by eye. what did I do wrong?
