I seperated my shoulder in mid may '93 and was back to work full duty by the end of june, could have gone back a few weeks earlier but my Lt. and I disagreed on a few things not related to the injury so I stayed home a few extra weeks. my ortho is out of Peachtree Orthopedics,they handle all the Atlanta teams (and with the falcons they have lots of practice).If you need surgery it will take a lot longer. Mine popped back into place when the paramedics were picking me up. I decided against surgery, My ortho said the only difference it made was whether or not you wanted a small knot on your shoulder or not.Most people don't notice, and I have since benched 290lbs with no problem from the shoulder. I do notice a pop every now and then when working out or the few times I paddled hard (I've only been in a kayak twice)but no pain.Definitly take the therapy and exercises serious and you should be 90% in about a month or so.
