It's easy to get a friend excited about building boats with you. I was in your situation for my first project. My friend (garage owner) and I built two nice stitch and glue boats several years ago. I provided the tools, he provided the space and we each ended up with a boat. Now I have a garage and I'm returning the favor (different friend); we're building two strippers in very tight quarters.
Three easy steps to brainwash a friend:
1. show them a few Wooden Boat magazines
2. show them a kayak-building book
3. lie and tell them it's fast and simple : )
