Ross, I haven't seen problems with stainless screws and brass finish washers although it doesn't look good. The few times there's been cosmetic problems with stainless has been slight rust stains coming out of a stainless nut and washer under the deck where the nut or washer are exposed to salt water but the metal surfaces are in contact but not to air.
