Well, Shawn and Paul covered most of it, but I'll put my 2 cents in anyway :-) First off, I'll tell you that, for me, it has been a very rewarding project. It started as a lark - "hey I wonder if I can do this" kind of thing, but grew into a really nice boat. Well nice looking anyway. Still have to cover and float it!

I made ribs by both steam and laminations. To be honest, my steamed ribs were actually laminates of two 1/8"-5/32" thick pieces. Each was steamed, bent into place and then glued up (laminated) after cooling. Long process. On the deck I switched to non-steamed laminations of 4-5 layers 1/16" thick. These were very easy and quick to make. Simply measure, cut, glue and clamp. Each type was also sanded before installation, which takes a long time. Whatever you do for ribs, make it easy. You'll have a lot of them!

I will be stringing roving on this boat and covering with Dacron when time permits. If you are coming to R2K1 in Port Townsend in August, I'll have it there.

Final word: Go for it! It will be a nice boat :-)
