I was talking of a table disk sander rather then a drum sander. They are like a table saw blade with a sand disc glued to one side. You can buy kits for your table saw. I have seen 12" real disk table sanders sell for a little over $100, they have really come down in price. In pattern making we use to duplicate many pieces using this technique. On 1/4" thick material we would use very thin short brads to nail through each stacked piece to hold them together while we sanded down to the master piece nailed on top. I have a 12" Delta table disk sander but the motor is burned out and I don't know how many times I wished I had it while working on my boat.
