whether anyone has used "veil" cloth as a final layer. In fiberglass layups it is used just under the gel coat, to prevent the underlying cloth or mat from printing through. It's aramid, of the same family as Kevlar, but it's white and only 0.38 oz./sq.yd. I have used it in other applications, but not with clear resins, so don't know whether it wets out clear. At $14/yd it's not cheap, but for the guy looking for that last ounce of weight savings it could be something to consider. It probably has better impact and wear resistance than glass, too.
