Yes, the haul and deck are made of the same dark red cedar. This scared me because when I was building the boat and wetted the red cedar it turned much darker then I had envisioned and I thought I have ruined the whole thing. But it looked better outside then it did in the small room I was building in. I also had sorted out a very deep red cedar that I didn't use at all because it would have looked as dark as walnut. I think it would really help to live someplace where other people are building strip boats so you can acutally see them and ask questions. Without this bulletin board for guidance, I could't do this.
