Hi Greg

I see no reason why you shouldn't use the wood glue. Either will work, but the wood glue is already " mixed " and you will have to tear the wood apart to get it apart. The entire shear clamp will ge in epoxy from your glass, so there won't be any moisture get in there. Should be fine!
