Following Rob's advice, I used a 1/8" spacer and hot glued the deck sheer to the forms. This allows a screwdriver or other tool to be inserted to bang the forms loose when stripping is complete. A 1/8" variation would not be a fatal flaw, as John Monfoe discovered recently, easily overcome with ratchet straps. Watch out though, the error may get worse as more strips are added. Less error at this stage would be a Good Thing.
: I asked almost this same question and got a response from Rob:

: I would just point out from reading your post the difference between a
: 1/8" "gap" (one thats an "even" 1/8" all the
: way along) and a "gap" that "varies" in thickness by
: an 1/8" up and down along th way. I made my gap 1/8 of an inch and
: worked to get it as "even" as I could, think that will save me
: troubles and work later.
