I don't remember how long it took but I do remember getting 17 strips from the 1X6 that I cut. I did not have to do any planing. They do have to be fairly straight to get that many 1/4" strips from on a table saw. I was using a new Freud blade (I think $8) from Home Depot. I could run the board through about as fast as I wanted, cut like butter.

: Rehd: I did count the time of planing, but I certainly am not bragging about
: my miserable 1.5 hrs/31 strips. I was merely throwing out the numbers so I
: could get an idea from you TS (table sawyers) as to how inefficient I am
: on my BS. Please give me a guess, just so I know what I am missing.
: As a newbie, I shouldn't generalize, but, would you agree that there is a
: place for both BS and TS in this stripers world? The BS can reduce waste
: on a curved board, and, if time and effort are not considered, the BS can
: get more strips per board by virtue of a smaller kerf as long as planing
: is light.
: The TS, however, can make an excellent cut in a "oner" and leave
: you with many strips that are smooth as a Baby's Bot in short order. OK, I
: made my rash statements and guesses.....Now let me have it!
