I have just a couple of other comments having just been where you are now. Spot gluing the tape to the hull worked very well for me too. I had gaps between hull and tape. I finally reinstalled the aft of the cockpit station mold and one aft of the my front hatch. That spread my hull enough at the sheer to meet the deck. After I taped the inside and removed the tape I found some gaps. I mixed up glue and sandings to get a color match and filled the small gaps then taped the outside. I would have seen these gaps if I had used clear tape but I couldn't get it to stick so I gave up and used good ol duct tape.
BTW my Georgian Bay took two brush extensions to reach the bow through the forward hatch. Taping the inside was not difficult just a tad uncomfortable.
