: Jim, thanks for this lesson on sanding this kind of epoxy. I understand now
: what I should have and shouldn't have been doing and what was happening.
: The one sentence you said, "SCRAPER FOR THE RUNS WHEN IT'S GREEN,
: SAND TO FAIR WHEN IT'S CURED" says it all to keep out of trouble I
: think. And yes, this is the Auk with the side bulk heads but it is 12 feet
: long. Now I wish I had made it 14 ft. But again thanks, I feel much more
: confident now that I know what I was doing wrong.
: John
A big part is just letting the epoxy cure. I really like the concept of the boat. I mainly went to kayaks for fishing because I can get to more places in worse weather, canoes were starting to make me nervous. I am really curious how the side bulkheads work out for self rescue. I am building an Endeavor, but it could easily have been an Auk, I decided because I never built anything with stems. The fun planing all the doo-dads has been great but I don't know how effective the boat will be fishing. Keep posting. Thanks for the pictures.
I have no idea what epoxy you are using so there's no magic here, I have a few boats behind me.
