Hi Dean..
I've done several designs in corel. I guess I don't quite understand what you mean by "(which I can't really use)" A) Not that comfortable with corel??? or B) Can't quite figure out how to adapt corel to a lines drawing??? or C) Don't quite understand how a table of offsets works????

The reason I've used corel is that I'm very comfortable with it, it's the only good graphics program I have, it's quite easy to develop both accurate and fair curves, and last but not least the ability to quickly make multiple copies to paste down and cut out forms.

The disadvantages are, you must work around the fact that corel is a general purpose program not designed for heavy naval architectural use, the printer output (at home) is probably limited to 8 1/2" x 14" which means a lot of cutting and pasting (of paper that is) to make a full size body plan, (or take a disk copy down to your friendly Kinko's for an oversize printout)

I hope this helps a bit, I'll be happy to give you some tips via e-mail if you like and as time permits.
happy trails
ron
