: I purchased some 3.1 oz. satin weave cloth off of e-bay at what I thought was
: a great price. It came packaged very well and I left it such intill tonite
: where I was getting ready to glass tomarrow and I wanted to let the cloth
: lay over nite and loose some wrinkles.(best layed plans of mice and
: men.......) As I unrolled the cloth I noticed an area of the cloth that
: had runs in the weave every 14 inches or so along the whole length of the
: roll. This is going on the hull bottom and will be seen. Will it show when
: wet out? A second coat will be applied on the very bottom for skid marks,
: if I double over will it still show?I don't know it is possible yet,I will
: have to relay and measure the water line.
: Should I just save for the insides ?I have more bolts of cloth but they all
: came from the same source and may be of the same condition. When is a
: bargin not a bargin?
: Please let me know as I need to finish this boat a.s.a.p.,moving soon and I
: would like to glass tomarrow (great weather).
: Thanks everyone,
: Dave

Is the cloth bunched up at the run area? ( speaking from little experience ) If it's just missing a thread or two, I can't imagine that being a problem. The resin should still fill it and it should dissappear like usual. If it is bunched, I would still imagine that you could smooth it down with a roller or squeegie when wet out. Could you maybe cut a small piece of the bunched area and give it a try on some scrap plywood or something? Would only take a minute and would give you lots of piece of mind.

If it is bunched up and won't lay flat, find the offending thread ( should be easy enough ) and cut it just before wet-out. Maybe somebody else has had this experience and can fill you in on their solution. ??
