Here are the steps I used to create drawings from the offsets:
1. Make a copy in Excel or any other spreadsheet of the offset tables in the book.
2. Using copy and paste, create a coordinate list of the format Pno Y X Z Code from the offset tables. This coordinate list was saved as a space delimited text file type .prn for use by Convert(C O N V E R T v1.2 by Mate Software, a shareware program that creates a dxf file of points from a text file, Convert comes with sample files so you can see what they should look like).
3. Create a dxf point file of using Convert. The code becomes the layer in AutoCAD, I used a different code for each form (station, bow, stern, and cockpit/recess). Convert has one glitch, it doesn’t like 0 as a coordinate, so replace 0 with a small number like 0.00001.
4. Import the dxf file into AutoCAD or IntelliCAD, which is freeware, available from www.cadopia.com
5. Draw forms as poly lines from point to point, use pedit to “fit” a curve.
Some points need to be ignored to make a fair curve. Also, the end form offsets are not quite right, but I ignored this as it is slight and I am not sure if it is the station or the end form numbers that are off.
The dxf file could also be imported into Corel, but if you don't know how to use Corel, I think you would be better off downloading Intellicad for free and learning to use it instead. There is a very good free manual for Intellicad that you can download at the same time. I don't have an web address for Convert.
