It looks like some of that US Composites epoxy can be had for $25 a gallon--this is cheap for epoxy, and probably not more expensive than polyester. Wal-Mart has polyester resin for $26 a gallon.

I kicked around the idea of building a one-off glass kayak. I was thinking of polyester, but for as cheap as I can find epoxy now, I'm not as tempted to try the polyester for a whole boat.
