Sounds like my Ryobi problem wasn't an isolated incident.

I'll try some of that drywall sanding mesh that will bite on both sides and see if that works. I also tried some shims of cardboard inside the ring, but they seemed too slippery.

To be honest, I've never used my router for a boat project, but I use it a lot on honey-do projects to keep my wife happy before and after I tackle a big boat project!
