I am also just about to start my first boat. I also scored some mahogany, 3/4" by 6" various lenghts(6',8', up to 16'). Taken out of a house remodel that I did, the owner had it put in 1953. I think it is pretty well dried out. I think my strips will end up around 3/16" after I cut them and run them through a thickness planer. I am also putting a cove and bead on them. I have cut a few test strips (around 5') , they have great flex. So I have no doubt they will work just fine. I'll post my discovery's and tragedy's as I go.
