Another possibility is this stuff this called "trick line" Theater supply houses have it for about $23.00 for 300 ft. It's vey durable, it doesn't stretch and it's very similary to the stuff used in lawn movers. And its black. Check with your local high school drama director, they probably have tons of the stuff layign around.
