Vinylester is priced about the same as generic laminating epoxy. It has a reputaion for resisting the transmission of water vapor and thus as a cure for the osmosis blistering that afflicts fiberglass/polyester resin hulls. Some builders are applying it as the first lamination resin to form a barrier to moisture. The inner laminations are then made with cheaper polyester. So I assume the two are compatable.
