I checked my insurance with State Farm last year because I have a number of kayaks and rafts. Homeowner policy covers only $1000 regardless of the values of the boat. That is $1000 total, not per boat if more than one boat is taken.

They cover many times that amount for guns, cameras, computers, jewelry, etc. without any additional riders or premiums, but not boats. And they gave no reason why.

I sometimes put a cable and lock around the kayak, under the seat and around the roof rack with the lock showing. Hopefully it will discourage.
