Wow, this is way out of control

At one end of the scale there are people that just want a kayak to paddle and will just slap something together. At the other end there are people who want to buy a kayak that's has been meticulously (sp?) built and hand rubbed with a diaper. What the owner of the kayak wants is entirely up to them. Some want fancy because it impresses others, and some others just want to have fun. Again, it's entirely the owners choice.

I personally want to build the best kayak I can within reason. I'm willing to spend the extra time it takes to create it too. I will be nice to my kayak and carry it to the water, but I'll probably live if it gets scratched. I will use it and have fun in it, and hopefully I will get to hand it down to my Grandchildren someday. I look at it as something that I will have created that will hopefully be here long after I am gone. What kind of a mark do you want to leave on this world when you're gone?

Personally, I think that a kayak that I build is going to be worth more to me and my family than ANY kayak I can buy, including Phil's. That's how it should be anyway.
