Chesapeake Light Craft designed a stitch & glue SailRig for canoes and kayaks.
If you're looking for free plans, there's an article in a 1996 WoodenBoat magazine that has drawings, photos, and a good description. It has two amas, or outriggers.
Shawn
: First: Thanks to all who shared positive comments.
: Second: Roger, the outriggers are still in the planning (?) stage but here's
: my thinking so far.
: Take the nose form graph paper and flip it upside down on a new sheet.
: Trace it.
: Make a baby strongback so that the total length is 36" x 6".
: Strip 2 circles.
: With the strong curve on both ends, I can be pushed out from shore and not
: stress the wood by trying to push it under. Besides, I think it will look
: neat.
: If I don't like the final shape, I can always sell them on ebay as Barbie
: kayaks.
: And finally: The hull is finished being stripped. I am going to sand and
: plane til my arms fall off today. I also have lots of new pics to post to
: the site. Probably tomorrow morning.
: Keep you all posted. Thanks again for the encouragement,
: Rick
