I've finally put the LAST coat of varnish on the deck of my Merganser...or should I say the last coat before fall renovation. I was never able to quite eliminate the dust, fuzz, or brush marks. I was quite frustrated before I actually took the boat outside and realized, that more than half of the blemishes are invisible once removed from a shop environment, where my nose was about 3" from the objectionable surface. I'm going to live with it for the season and practice more varnishing in the fall. Nobody seems to notice any of the imperfections. I don't mean to discourage you or to encourage inferior varnishing, but if it's not perfect...it will look almost as beutiful, and it will be just as much fun to paddle.
