just guesses, not a stitcher

-i think it was hank's technique to just spray glue sandpaper to both sides of a putty knife and run back and forth.

-if the wires are loose, offset the pces and use the underset panel as a guide for the metal bed of a fine plane to trim the offset corner, then do the offset vice versa and use the other as the plane bed guide.

could do the same w/ a masking tape wrapped file, the masking tape portion rubs the underset good panel surface while the exposed teeth can't cut the good surface, but can on the offset edge, and vice versa

could probably glue sandpaper to one part of any flat pc of strip wood and use the flat part as the guide.

for trial setups, i wonder if you tied the pcs together using a figure 8 line scheme (w/ the intersection of the 8 at the join lines) if the pcs would act similar to how to put together so can test out. or i wonder about double sided tape criss cross thru the intersection

or temporary stitches like quick clecos, but made out of stiff ss 1/16 wire(or the hole size) 1 1/2 in long(or way less) but shaped like a 'V'. insert from under neath and have awide elastic band and wrap on the free ends. or masking tape. maybe the bottom of the V should be a littl wide so not such asharp angle.
