I installed a flush hatch system in my Arctic Tern using internal bungee and sealing them with 1/8th inch thick hatch gasket tape from West Marine. I applied the tape to both the hatch cover and the lip. If I do a bunch of rolling practice I might get 1/4 cup of water inside. Otherwise, they're waterproof.
