: Hey. I understand from Nick's site that the expedition plans are the best
: selling but most of the boats being built(of his design) seem to be the
: guillemot. Does this mean that there are a number of plans just sitting
: out there on everybody's shelf? I'll tell you what, I have a much greater
: respect for all you builders out there after getting in to my expedition.
: Just thought I'd share that with everyone.
I built a wee lassie 2 from Mac McCarthy's book. When it came to build a Wee Lasie I splurged for the plans and I'm glad I did.
I've also purchased Guillemot "L" plans. So far I've cut out the forms. That was last year. hopefully I'll start building this fall. I also lamintated the profile sheets to put up on the wall 'cause they look so cool.
A lot of these boats can be built from a book (especailly SOF's), but it sure is nice to build from blue prints. Deffinatly a sense of security.
Roger
PS I don't think I'd build an SOF from plans. Takes away from the dimnamics of the SOF system. I love saying to a kayak admirer, "yah, those ribs are 1 fingernail thick by 2 index finger widths wide. and the keel is 2 fathoms minus a cubit." Sooooooooooooooo Awesome
