: Ok, I'm not sure if this is too picky but here goes... I just got back from
: paddling my Osprey Double and was rinsing the boat down when I noticed a
: couple of spots on the hull. These spots are pretty small (3-4 squares of
: fiberglass weave). The spots look like "starred fiberglass"
: (white). I can't remember if they were there prior to varnishing and it
: doesn't look like the glass is loose. Should I leave it or do I need to
: sand down the spots and put some fresh epoxy down? Does System 3 epoxy get
: too old to use, does it go bad? Thanks for any thoughts on the subject.

Tom, I had some white spots on my haul from sanding before the epoxy was cured, I think. But on my deck I had white spots of a different sort. I had my deck fiberglassed and cured out and I took it off the forms and worked on the inside deck and fiberglassed it also. It started to curl up and I had to put spreaders on it to match it to the haul for seam taping. It was under a lot of stress. About a day later lots of white dots appeared like pimples and I could run my hand over them and feel them. I think my glass has delaminated just on these points. I think I will use the boat all summer and let all of the stress come out before I do a fix. If you can feel any pin bumps then your situation may be like mine. Just a thought.
