: Second, the Ridgid has huge
: infeed/outfeed tables. The smaller units on the market have these tiny
: foldout shelves that looked fragile and easily bendable. I wanted solid
: tables that would provide uniformity to the plane.
I got the Delta planer and was also not impressed with the in/outfeed tables. I built my own out of plywood and some old leftover countertops. The are flat, smooth, slick and BUTCH. I have four feet of table on each side of the planer and can easily stow them when not in use. It really helps minimize snipe (for those of you wanting to go on a snipe hunt, sorry.) It's a worthwhile project to get the best use out of your new baby. Do you have a dust collector? I think it's key for such a tool.
Cheers,
