: I am at the point of filling gaps before sanding. Does anyone know if I can
: fill with wood putty, wood filler, laquer sticks etc. and if they can be
: epoxied? Seems to me I can get a better colour match with these products
: than trying to come up with a match using sanding dust and epoxie. Any
: thoughts, ideas?
I used a mixture of wood flour and durhams wood filler to fill some gaps. The more wood flour the darker the color. The color of the straight durhams is cream. I almost matched my chocholate colored western red cedar.
Just glassed the boat the other day. worked fine and the epoxy darkened the wood flour part of the mixture quite nicely. it sanded well too before glass and epoxy causing no wood discoloration that oilbased fillers do (durhams is water based and really cheap costing for a big can).
