Seat Back: Best config? Band or Solid?

I'm customizing my Mariner Max cockpit with sliding seat. There is extensive design work involved to keep the seat a slider. I need to roll with ease, so which type of seat is better, a flexible band type, or a solid type made from minicell foam? I would appreciate any opions.
