Hi Kirk,
There is never enough time. You just have to decide which other things in your life should be replaced by kayakbuilding for four months. I built a Stitch and Glue kayak from plans in that time. This included endless obsessing about building sequence, wood orientation, doing everything fo the first time, long dicussions with my husband, and as a result, a boat that I love. I am an architect, which really means "works long hours for little pay". Building a boat was something else to focus on, and it became a good way to unwind at the end of the day. Be careful though, it is addictive. A representative for a stretch PVC ceiling system was in our office yesterday. The first thing that came to my mind after learning about it's shrink wrap like qualities was: can you build a boat with that? The answer was yes...and now I am in real trouble again....
