You can put a couple layers of glass over/around the T nuts and epoxy coat.
I'd put epoxy up agst urethane glue anytime/anyplace.
You have to be the judge of how bad it would be for you to lose a footbrace
in use.

But then I'm using thru bolts, not willing to give up any space for wood blocks
