Good question, my minicell seat is higher than the gap underneath the cheek plate so it hasn't been a problem, its covered up.

Now I wish I had extended them to the hull and glassed them in for strength reasons, and I do like Shawns method of locking the boat up. I'm going to use a stainless u-bolt epoxied thru the bulkhead for the same.
