: I live in New York where only power and sail boats need to be registered. I
: shouldn't say that loudly, or NYS will figure they can make a few more
: bucks by mandating that everything that floats needs to be registered.
: Anyway, I have heard that other states require ALL watercraft to be
: registered. What happens when one travels to an all watercraft state(or
: country, like Canada) from one like NY? I suppose it would be good to know
: that beforehand
Alaska passed a law last year that all boats 10' and over must be registered, carry the sticker on the front of the boat and have the registration in the boat wheneve it is being used on the water. But it only applies to Alaska residents/boats and boats people are bringing to primarily use/leave in Alaska from other states.
As a non-resident in other states, I've never been bothered to have my paddle boats registered for temporary use in that state.
