What are you guys paying for cedar?

I'm trying to plan for the cost of a kayak, something like the Georgian Bay or ?

I am lucky(?) enough to have a place locally that sells only w. red cedar and redwood. They have the clear, top grade w.red cedar priced 1 x 6 @ $1.90 a linear ft. or 1 x 8 @ 2.56 L.ft. Does that sound competive or steep or?

I thought I read that the average kayaks took about 50 brd ft.? How does that translate to linear ft. (I'm not sure how many strips can be gotten from a 1x6 or 1x8? I suppose it all depends on the kerf of the blade?)

Any ballpark estimates on how many linear feet it might take?

Similarly, what would the cost be(roughly) to order the strips already cut and routed?

Thanks.
